Endometriosis occurs when tissue that looks like endometrium (the lining of the uterus) is found outside of the uterus (womb) and causes inflammation.

The extent of endometriosis can vary from a few small spots of tissue with no adhesions to large ovarian cysts with very distorted pelvic anatomy.

Pelvic pain could be acute (Sudden) or chronic.

Chronic pelvic pain is defined as intermittent or constant pain which has been on going for not less than six months duration.

These are benign smooth muscle growth of the uterus. About 20 to 35% of women over the age of 35 years would have fibroids.

About half of those with fibroids would develop symptoms related to the fibroids. Fibroids are rare below the age of 20 years and shrink after menopause.

What is Hysterectomy?
Hysterectomy is the removal of the uterus (womb).

The recovery period after Key-hole surgery is shorter and pain following the operation is less.
